There was this term at our school. Anyone who made it from 4th grade to their senior year was called a Survivor...But we didn't know there was a different type of surviving going on. “Survivors High” is a documentary the chronicles three former students' descriptions of abuse and sexual assault at one of the nation's most prestigious performing arts schools in the country. I was one of the lucky ones, with a grandfather that stepped in before it got worse. But with recently becoming an awarding-winning director, my classmates reached out with their confidence and blessings to tell their truth.
If gifted the Space for Change grant, we'll use the locations chosen to film and document the victim's stories for the "Survivors High" documentary.
Peerspace is on a mission to bring people together. We believe it is impossible to achieve that goal unless we also fight for equality and access to resources in the communities we serve.
Having a space to gather, create, and exchange ideas is an important part of any movement. In order to magnify voices that are often quieted, Peerspace will sponsor venues for people who challenge prejudice and fight for social justice and equality.
Each quarter, we will sponsor space for three projects that are relevant to our community. These projects can range from fundraisers and educational initiatives to art exhibits and photo series.
