The cause I am working on is separating the ego from our soul told from a black experience through a series of paintings and photography. We are soul beings going through life in human experience. What if we were to separate our soul from the human emotions and wants? What can we become and what will we be able to create? I would like to tell that story through my art. I am connected to it through personal events that have been traumatic in my life. Through those events, I have learned to understand life from a soul perspective rather than my human connection to this world. Being born in Freetown, Sierra Leone to moving to the United States has taught me how to relate and connect to so many people with different cultures and backgrounds. What has been a constant is tapping into the soul of a person. I am connected to it by showing the truth of who a person really is which is more than the shell we are living in, our physical human body.
I will use the space for curating an immersive art show with Paintings and Photography that tell the story I am creating.
Peerspace is on a mission to bring people together. We believe it is impossible to achieve that goal unless we also fight for equality and access to resources in the communities we serve.
Having a space to gather, create, and exchange ideas is an important part of any movement. In order to magnify voices that are often quieted, Peerspace will sponsor venues for people who challenge prejudice and fight for social justice and equality.
Each quarter, we will sponsor space for three projects that are relevant to our community. These projects can range from fundraisers and educational initiatives to art exhibits and photo series.
