I am a 20 year old Pakistani female photographer committed to raising my voice through visual storytelling. My project is a fashion based concept with a South Asian twist. The photo series intends to tell a story of a South Asian model navigating the waters of the western fashion world. Entering the creative world as a minority woman requires making difficult decisions and breaking barriers. The fashion world caters to people with privilege which can be discouraging for those who don’t have it. This photo series is meant to put a spotlight on those women whose struggles go unheard.
I will use the space to execute a fashion editorial photoshoot focusing on the said concept. If given the opportunity, I will assemble an editorial team (I already have the model of my choice) and we will all mutually collaborate to bring this vision to life.
Peerspace is on a mission to bring people together. We believe it is impossible to achieve that goal unless we also fight for equality and access to resources in the communities we serve.
Having a space to gather, create, and exchange ideas is an important part of any movement. In order to magnify voices that are often quieted, Peerspace will sponsor venues for people who challenge prejudice and fight for social justice and equality.
Each quarter, we will sponsor space for three projects that are relevant to our community. These projects can range from fundraisers and educational initiatives to art exhibits and photo series.
