We have created a streaming channel on Roku called For All Women of Color, to provide a platform for independent content creators to stream along side of major films. We do not charge the creators or viewers but we are completely sustained through donations and sometimes out of our own pockets. We wanted a space where everyone could share their work without the financial burden. There are no subscription fees or hidden charges. Our channel also encourages the content creators to include more diversity in casting because representation matters. Diversity and Inclusion is what we work to achieve. Many women in the film and entertainment industry are limited on their options and in 2021 we can actually count the number of major key players. Women of color are even more uncommon. We want an environment of all colors, races, ethnicities and sexual preferences welcomed. Therefore our logo is a unicorn of may colors because we all should be represented and given the proper platform despite our financial status, race, ethnicity or even religious beliefs. Our FAWOC community becomes a support system for these creators and most of them now interact and support each other through their projects. I am a creator and I noticed there was a disparity and wanted to do something to bridge that gap and bring female creators together to unite, celebrate and share their work with a larger audience. I have teamed up with several women to create a new series called Too Smart For Love. It is a series that has provided opportunities to women in front of and behind the camera. It is a drama-comedy about relationships and explores someone who has sworn off love .
If I win, we will use this space to produce content with the talented female directors, producers and actresses that we have. I think it would be motivating and exciting to create and show the world what females united really looks like. We want to show the sisterhood that we have of Black, White, Hispanic, Asian, Middle Easterners, Native Americans and more uniting to create and celebrating and uplifting each other in the process. All of us "unicorns" are assembling to make magic happen.
Peerspace is on a mission to bring people together. We believe it is impossible to achieve that goal unless we also fight for equality and access to resources in the communities we serve.
Having a space to gather, create, and exchange ideas is an important part of any movement. In order to magnify voices that are often quieted, Peerspace will sponsor venues for people who challenge prejudice and fight for social justice and equality.
Each quarter, we will sponsor space for three projects that are relevant to our community. These projects can range from fundraisers and educational initiatives to art exhibits and photo series.
