About this project

Their cause

Mentorship is the primary cause of this project. Young Black men in the city of Chicago may not have access to positive role models. The aim is to highlight the stories of successful and accomplished Black men to serve as positive motivators. The way I intend to do this is through a photobook and video, in which half the money raised will be donated to a mentoring organization in Chicago. This topic is important to me because of my own background and the organizations I serve in. I know the impact of having a mentor, especially a male mentor that comes from your background can greatly impact your success.

How they'll use their space

I will use it to conduct a photoshoot and video shoot for all the Black men highlighted.

What is Space for Change?

Peerspace is on a mission to bring people together. We believe it is impossible to achieve that goal unless we also fight for equality and access to resources in the communities we serve.

Having a space to gather, create, and exchange ideas is an important part of any movement. In order to magnify voices that are often quieted, Peerspace will sponsor venues for people who challenge prejudice and fight for social justice and equality.

Each quarter, we will sponsor space for three projects that are relevant to our community. These projects can range from fundraisers and educational initiatives to art exhibits and photo series.
