About this project

Their cause

My Current Project is a developing project but will go into full gear this Summer. I am creating a Art Protest/ Campaign that will bring attention and awareness to the Metro- Transit issues in the Los Angeles area. As a Native New Yorker I grew up in a City that has adequate and regularly scheduled running Buses and Trains. Since moving to LA in November, I have had several bad experiences trying to commute to and from Job opportunities. Los Angeles has become so accustomed to the bad service they don't believe their is even a solution or action they could take for better service. I believe the lack of Convenience is done intentional to deter those from lower income communities to travel outside of their Neighborhoods. A 20 minute drive equates to 2 hour rides via Bus route. Their are limited Express buses and only Trains in Popular neighborhoods. This City is far too advanced culturally to be so behind in something so basic but essential as Public Transportation. I want to organize a group of activist to strategize, research and develop ways to get support for the pedestrians, elderly and Non drivers of LA.

How they'll use their space

I will utilize it for Covid safe meetings, Research headquarters and a office to contact State and Government officials. I am an Artist- Activist so possibly a few small events to bring community awareness and build camaraderie. It will also be a info center for anyone to come in a join or educate others on our endeavors. I will also partner with a few Homeless organizations to address how Poor Service and the Homeless intersect.

What is Space for Change?

Peerspace is on a mission to bring people together. We believe it is impossible to achieve that goal unless we also fight for equality and access to resources in the communities we serve.

Having a space to gather, create, and exchange ideas is an important part of any movement. In order to magnify voices that are often quieted, Peerspace will sponsor venues for people who challenge prejudice and fight for social justice and equality.

Each quarter, we will sponsor space for three projects that are relevant to our community. These projects can range from fundraisers and educational initiatives to art exhibits and photo series.
