About this project

Their cause

Our organization, WomenWerk, is a women’s empowerment non-profit and our mission is to empower women of color across key areas of equity. Pay equity is paramount for women to be paid equal pay for equal work. Annually, we host an equal pay day training on salary research and negotiation. Our sponsors no longer allow non-employees into offices and we lost our grant to host us at WeWork because the company is struggling. This project is to record our equal pay campaign video to educate women (and men) about the pay gap. We want people to take action individually and collectively until employers and local governments do more to enact stronger pay equity laws. We believe this will help women who are in a job transition and wanting equity but also families that depend on fair incomes in this difficult time.

How they'll use their space

We lost our office space due to limited budget in 2020 as we could not host our in-person training and professional development programs. We also have not been able to do events due to the pandemic and we no longer have a steady office space. This project needs a beautiful space for recoding this important campaign message on equal pay for women.

What is Space for Change?

Peerspace is on a mission to bring people together. We believe it is impossible to achieve that goal unless we also fight for equality and access to resources in the communities we serve.

Having a space to gather, create, and exchange ideas is an important part of any movement. In order to magnify voices that are often quieted, Peerspace will sponsor venues for people who challenge prejudice and fight for social justice and equality.

Each quarter, we will sponsor space for three projects that are relevant to our community. These projects can range from fundraisers and educational initiatives to art exhibits and photo series.
