About this project

Their cause

I'm working on a project that'll feature an animated short film and an audio and physical installation highlighting the voices of undocumented minors and their experiences existing in the US. The installation will feature multiple important but seemingly trivial objects belonging to undocumented minors, and their audio stories of the objects. This will allow us to give them a platform, sharing their story in their own words, while maintaining full anonymity. I'm connected to this project because of my involvement in the undocumented space and community. I've done a vast amount of work to highlight my community, as is evident in my work. For more of my work, particularly with United We Dream, check out my website or Vimeo page.

How they'll use their space

I will use the space for the installation - to screen the film and build the audio space. Museums are not usually super open to hosting POC artists and stories like these. I want to create a similar environment as Iñarritu's Carne y Arena exhibition portion and would love to use Peerspace to make this vision come to life.

What is Space for Change?

Peerspace is on a mission to bring people together. We believe it is impossible to achieve that goal unless we also fight for equality and access to resources in the communities we serve.

Having a space to gather, create, and exchange ideas is an important part of any movement. In order to magnify voices that are often quieted, Peerspace will sponsor venues for people who challenge prejudice and fight for social justice and equality.

Each quarter, we will sponsor space for three projects that are relevant to our community. These projects can range from fundraisers and educational initiatives to art exhibits and photo series.
