About this project

Their cause

I think as a society, overall we have come comfortable with the topic of death associated with guns, but what about the people who survived it? I am currently working on a ad campaign targeting survivors of gun violence, called, I am a Survivor: The Aftermath, for my brand, Shoot Films Not People. As an activist, filmmaker and native from Chicago, I want to not only incorporate movies and merchandise into my brand, but also activism. This is just the beginning. Three survivors of gun violence from different backgrounds will share their stories about the day they got shot and the healing process that brought them to who they are today. This is a series of video and photographs that will brand our merchandise, Shoot Films Not People, but also help change the narrative of how we view gun violence.

How they'll use their space

I will use the space to do more ad campaigns, photo shoots to market my brand, and do community pop ups for the brand, Shoot Films Not People, while spreading our message about ending gun violence.

What is Space for Change?

Peerspace is on a mission to bring people together. We believe it is impossible to achieve that goal unless we also fight for equality and access to resources in the communities we serve.

Having a space to gather, create, and exchange ideas is an important part of any movement. In order to magnify voices that are often quieted, Peerspace will sponsor venues for people who challenge prejudice and fight for social justice and equality.

Each quarter, we will sponsor space for three projects that are relevant to our community. These projects can range from fundraisers and educational initiatives to art exhibits and photo series.
