For this project, I would like to photograph a 'Day in the Life' of a multi-generational asian family. It has been very difficult to see such much violence towards Asian-Americans over the past few months. I believe that the root of hatred and violence often comes from a place of ignorance. I create authentic, relatable photography that is emotional and real, and I hope that by doing this, I show people that the most important things are the ones we have in common - love for our families and spending time with each other. My work sets out to move beyond stereotypes and show the world the way I and so many of us, know it to be.
I often use peerspace for locations for my stock shoots but because I shoot everything entirely on my own, I don't have large budgets. If chosen for this opportunity, I would love to choose a bright beautiful townhome as the setting for my family shoot. Grandparents teaching grandchildren how to make dumplings, dad helping out with housework and homework, a mom who is a working professional. These are some of the ideas I have for this photoshoot.
Peerspace is on a mission to bring people together. We believe it is impossible to achieve that goal unless we also fight for equality and access to resources in the communities we serve.
Having a space to gather, create, and exchange ideas is an important part of any movement. In order to magnify voices that are often quieted, Peerspace will sponsor venues for people who challenge prejudice and fight for social justice and equality.
Each quarter, we will sponsor space for three projects that are relevant to our community. These projects can range from fundraisers and educational initiatives to art exhibits and photo series.
