I am the CEO of Women of Color Filmmakers. An organization that garners support, skill building, and networking to minority female filmmakers who are pursing careers in film and television. This group has grown to over 700 members, many of whom are collaborating on film projects, booked roles as writers and actors on television shows, and got their films on streaming platforms such as Amazon Prime and Netflix.
I would like to use the space to hold an event for our members who are participating in the WOCF Film Lab and Summer Film Challenge. We will do a virtual live broadcast of their films and award the recipients of the Audience Choice & Jury Awards.
Peerspace is on a mission to bring people together. We believe it is impossible to achieve that goal unless we also fight for equality and access to resources in the communities we serve.
Having a space to gather, create, and exchange ideas is an important part of any movement. In order to magnify voices that are often quieted, Peerspace will sponsor venues for people who challenge prejudice and fight for social justice and equality.
Each quarter, we will sponsor space for three projects that are relevant to our community. These projects can range from fundraisers and educational initiatives to art exhibits and photo series.
