Pretty in Pinkston Skincare is a black-owned, luxury skincare line that promotes healthy skin to maintain that melanin glow. It helps young black models with interest in fashion through promotions, brand features, and scholarships. Also, another advocacy it holds is towards finding a cure for Multiple Sclerosis.Former runway model Kimberly Pinkston is behind this skincare line with a purpose. Fashion and beauty are a constant necessity in the lives of enthusiasts anywhere on the globe, but skincare is the key to effortless, natural beauty. Skincare has always been a big part of Kimberly’s daily routine, and she always took the time and care to tend to her skin with all-natural ingredients.Fondly, she recalls the time she would sneak ingredients from her mother’s kitchen into her bedroom. “My mom would always fuss at me for using her eggs and mayonnaise on my face. She would look for the natural herbs she used for cooking and find them in my room while I’m mixing stuff up with lotion.”The Pretty in Pinkston Skincare brand came to be after the former runway model encountered a misfortune. She had amazing skin and a great career, but being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, an autoimmune disease targeting the nervous system, inevitably meant significant life changes.News of this sort could devastate people, but Kimberly refused to go down. “I choose to make lemonade out of the lemons life has given me,” she says, “and it tastes pretty darn good!!” Today, she shares her knowledge and techniques in runway modeling with young girls in underserved communities. Sessions with her are free but have one qualification the girls must meet: they must maintain an A to B average in school and be actively involved in their communities. One of her students in the abovementioned communities, in fact, is featured on the Pretty in Pinkston Skincare line. With a mission to help find a cure for multiple sclerosis and help young black girls realize their aspirations of becoming fashion models, she strives to get them as much exposure as possible. Kimberly acknowledges that her success is partially attributable to the help of people around her; thus, she pays it forward in helping her girls. A portion of the income generated by Pretty in Pinkston Skincare is divided between the MS Foundation and a scholarship fund for the young ladies in her program who want to go to college.Kimberly Pinkston’s brand boasts of products that aid in healing while restoring the skin’s youthful glow. The Illuminating Universal Primer, Hand and Body Restoration Cream, and Hydrating Face Moisturizer are their best selling products. With various products infused with vitamins and minerals scientifically proven to help the skin, it visibly improves its quality. The Pretty in Pinkston Skincare line is proof that one’s misfortunes do not define the outcome of her life. Kimberly Pinkston continues to live her best life despite her diagnosis. She serves as an inspiration that anyone can achieve anything they set their minds to despite the setbacks that life may bring.Find out more about Kimberly Pinkston and Pretty in Pinkston Skincare by visiting their
Currently, I am working on the Multiple Sclerosis Annual Fashion Show and I plan on shooting it at a PeerSpace location. This would be a great contribution to our cause!
Peerspace is on a mission to bring people together. We believe it is impossible to achieve that goal unless we also fight for equality and access to resources in the communities we serve.
Having a space to gather, create, and exchange ideas is an important part of any movement. In order to magnify voices that are often quieted, Peerspace will sponsor venues for people who challenge prejudice and fight for social justice and equality.
Each quarter, we will sponsor space for three projects that are relevant to our community. These projects can range from fundraisers and educational initiatives to art exhibits and photo series.
