We are launching a program that delivers free meal kits to Chicago Public School (CPS) students and low-income families impacted by food insecurity. Our program focuses on offering nutritious meals that are nightshade free, dairy free and gluten free to combat the health challenges that most minorities face due to the lack of access to healthy food. Working directly with CPS, we will target students who live in zip codes within food deserts and receive either free or reduced lunch.
We will use the space to host a virtual live cooking demonstration and date night event for potential contributors to get a first look at the process and for subscribed families to participate in for free. The date night cooking demonstration will feature a cooking demo from a local chef and live music/entertainment. This will also help to bring exposure to the program.
Peerspace is on a mission to bring people together. We believe it is impossible to achieve that goal unless we also fight for equality and access to resources in the communities we serve.
Having a space to gather, create, and exchange ideas is an important part of any movement. In order to magnify voices that are often quieted, Peerspace will sponsor venues for people who challenge prejudice and fight for social justice and equality.
Each quarter, we will sponsor space for three projects that are relevant to our community. These projects can range from fundraisers and educational initiatives to art exhibits and photo series.
