About this project

Their cause

I am associated with the Voices of Women, a not-for-profit which runs a monologue competition for women from all walks of life to share their stories. Voices of Women and the Entanglement short digital film offers the opportunities to female writers and actors of colour, First Nations women and women from diverse cultural backgrounds the chance to collaborate and write for performance and perform. Females interested in a career in the performing arts, and in publishing their work, are the beneficiaries of the program. The goal is to create more opportunities for women to collaborate across communities, learning and being inspired by each other, in the creation of excellence and outstanding artistic productions. The next paragraph only if you want to say more and make it a bit more cause-ish sounding.***With the global pandemic adversely affecting women more than men it is more important than ever for women to share, untangle, listen, be together to feel less isolated, alone and potentially threatened. For women their everyday is their own stage, and they survive on a journey of emotional reconciliation within themselves, navigating a path through society and those around the

How they'll use their space

We will be filming 6-8 monologues in the US. The director and actors are mostly based in or around New York. We would benefit enormously from the opportunity to use the variety of spaces available at Peerspace to add ambience, atmosphere and beautiful visuals to the monologues. Being able to film in a vital and film-ready space will help us develop the Voices of Women program.

What is Space for Change?

Peerspace is on a mission to bring people together. We believe it is impossible to achieve that goal unless we also fight for equality and access to resources in the communities we serve.

Having a space to gather, create, and exchange ideas is an important part of any movement. In order to magnify voices that are often quieted, Peerspace will sponsor venues for people who challenge prejudice and fight for social justice and equality.

Each quarter, we will sponsor space for three projects that are relevant to our community. These projects can range from fundraisers and educational initiatives to art exhibits and photo series.
