About this project

Their cause

basedSKIN. is a plant-based skincare line in which our serums are each based on a few natural ingredients in combination with polypeptides. We have very few ingredients in our products. We use more actives and less preservatives/fillers—making our products concentrated and effective. A little bit goes a very long way, and therefore; our products last. Our cruelty-free serum formulas contain polypeptides in which stimulate the skin to produce more of its OWN Collagen, Elastin, and Hyaluronic Acid. In fact, it boosts your OWN production of Collagen by up to 350%! Our skincare is suitable for all skin types including sensitive, mature, and acne-prone skin. We are cruelty-free, non-GMO, fragrance and dye-free—as well as free of parabens, phthalates, sulfates, formaldehyde, mineral oil, and all harmful chemicals and preservatives! We are also a sustainable brand. To keep things conservative, everything is measured out in our skincare; from the serums and moisturizers having measured markings on our child-proof droppers—to our cleansers having mini product spoons for scooping products with an indentation that measures proper product amount needed for each cleanse. We also do not individually package products in their own product boxes. We put our products in transparent, travel-friendly makeup bags. The bags, along with the recyclable bottles, jars, and tins our skincare comes in are all reusable and travel-friendly. That way, after you’ve finished our products; you can fill the packaging with other products and place them in the included makeup bag to use as toiletries for travel! We also ship our products with the first-ever carbon-neutral shipping company in the USA (that’s also a B-Corp!Last year, I supplied well over $30K worth of free skincare products simply out of good will and further alongside opportunity for the community to earn income from online ”influencer content”. I also provided opportunity for influencers as well as estheticians to gain commissions from sales without the need to purchase inventory or keep inventory on-hand.Best of all, basedSKIN. takes pride in our creative campaigns: providing the artistic community with a plethora of employment opportunity — from models, photographers, creative directors, videographers, makeup artists, hair stylists, studio owners, retouchers, editors, and more. We have and will continue to provide these opportunities to those in our very own community of Los Angeles and across the United States.

How they'll use their space

Now, having entered our second year in business, there is still so much we are hoping to do — and we are seeking help to provide us a location we can use to continue our most recent creative project which will additionally supply jobs for our arts community and keep our brand afloat with an epic creative project! We are looking to incorporate our latest project with a male model. You do not see many men in beauty or skincare ads, but we are all about inclusiveness, and we want to make a male face the face of our spring 2021 campaign.

What is Space for Change?

Peerspace is on a mission to bring people together. We believe it is impossible to achieve that goal unless we also fight for equality and access to resources in the communities we serve.

Having a space to gather, create, and exchange ideas is an important part of any movement. In order to magnify voices that are often quieted, Peerspace will sponsor venues for people who challenge prejudice and fight for social justice and equality.

Each quarter, we will sponsor space for three projects that are relevant to our community. These projects can range from fundraisers and educational initiatives to art exhibits and photo series.
