In light of Meghan Markle's recent interview, it has become more apparent to me that the experiences of biracial individuals remains an untold story. As a biracial woman and mental health therapist, I am deeply passionate about storytelling and shedding light on pivotal topics related to mental health and wellness. With this cause and sponsorship, I am excited to begin work on the "Black And" Documentary highlighting and amplifying the voices of biracial children, adults, and families around the country to learn about their experiences of racism, sexism, ageism, and colorism while navigating the world as "Black and."
The space will be used to host COVID-friendly, and emotionally-nurturing interviews with individuals, couples, and families about their experiences. The space will ideally be large enough to allow children to play freely while sharing their viewpoints in a space that is comfortable, nurturing, and emotionally safe.
Peerspace is on a mission to bring people together. We believe it is impossible to achieve that goal unless we also fight for equality and access to resources in the communities we serve.
Having a space to gather, create, and exchange ideas is an important part of any movement. In order to magnify voices that are often quieted, Peerspace will sponsor venues for people who challenge prejudice and fight for social justice and equality.
Each quarter, we will sponsor space for three projects that are relevant to our community. These projects can range from fundraisers and educational initiatives to art exhibits and photo series.
