The cause that Garden of Her is working on is healing black lives and allies through sound healing, meditation, music and community! During the 2020 global pandemic and Black Lives Matter riots, we felt the heaviness, confusion and pain in the atmosphere of Los Angeles and knew the black community and our allies needed a safe space to heal, release and nourish their spirits. So, we answered to that calling and Sol & Sound was created. Sol & Sound is a socially distanced outdoor sound healing festival with a live dj set, sound bath meditation, breath-work practice and black owned vendors, including wellness practitioners in the field of reiki, nutrition, massage therapy and oracle psychic readings. We held Sol & Sound every 1st Sunday of the month from August to November 2020 and had an average of 150 attendees at every event. The best part about Sol & Sound is that it's free and we welcome anyone that needs healing. At all of our events, men and women have cried and danced, truly feeling nourished from the inside out. Here is a testimonial from one of our attendees: "Sol and Sound was so incredibly amazing. And I thank you so much ladies for putting this on and welcoming us with open arms. I was healed today. I cried and I felt like I finally said goodbye to some things I've been carrying for so long. I finally feel ready to carry forward. Thank you."
This year we are bringing back Sol & Sound every first Sunday from May-October 2021 and we would like to use our sponsored venue for our finale event in October. We have some big things planned for the 2021 Sol & Sound season and as we grow, we'd like our event to relocate from our community park to a private venue. This would allow us to personalize the event space and enhance the experience for our attendees. Plus, with an amazing venue we can attract more people to heal and that's what it's all about.
Peerspace is on a mission to bring people together. We believe it is impossible to achieve that goal unless we also fight for equality and access to resources in the communities we serve.
Having a space to gather, create, and exchange ideas is an important part of any movement. In order to magnify voices that are often quieted, Peerspace will sponsor venues for people who challenge prejudice and fight for social justice and equality.
Each quarter, we will sponsor space for three projects that are relevant to our community. These projects can range from fundraisers and educational initiatives to art exhibits and photo series.
