Our Goal is to create opportunities for Latinx to teach, mentor, network, and benefit from scholarships within the wellness arena. One way we’ve started to Connect & Inspire our community is by offering Free Instagram Live opportunities on the Yogis Unidos IG. This is our way of making wellness accessible, even during this time of uncertainty due to the Covid-19 pandemic, to everyone who may need. We also started a Live & on Demand Virtual Yoga Studio to help fund our project. I, as a first generation Latina, want to expand the wellness industry to include diversity. At conception with founder Stephanie Acosta I offered my financial knowledge and marketing strategy expertise to Yogis Unidos. When Stephanie asked her to join her team in establishing YU, she immediately agreed. “I believe in YU’s mission and I wish to further access to wellness, especially financial wellness, to the Latinx community”. It is an underserved population in wellness and price remains a barrier to exploring things like yoga.
We have a couple of thoughts in mind. We would really love to host an intimate (Covid safe) networking/yoga-meditation event. one of goals is to connect, we know there is a strong center in the human connection and Latinx Culture. As mentioned, one way we’ve started to Connect & Inspire our community is by offering Free Instagram Live opportunities on the Yogis Unidos Instagram. We'd love to make it personal by hosting a networking/yoga-meditation event to our loyal following. Since most studios have shutdown due to the Pandemic, it has been hard for people to navigate wellness -- when it matters most. Even Instructors have been out of work and it has taken a toll on the wellness industry as a whole, but for a population like ours, where human connection is at the center, it has been even more challenging. In addition, we'd like to have a space to create marketing collateral to show-up professionally and cohesive to serve our community with our best foot forward.
Peerspace is on a mission to bring people together. We believe it is impossible to achieve that goal unless we also fight for equality and access to resources in the communities we serve.
Having a space to gather, create, and exchange ideas is an important part of any movement. In order to magnify voices that are often quieted, Peerspace will sponsor venues for people who challenge prejudice and fight for social justice and equality.
Each quarter, we will sponsor space for three projects that are relevant to our community. These projects can range from fundraisers and educational initiatives to art exhibits and photo series.
