Spreading love and caffeination on the south side of Chicago and beyond

About this project

Their cause

Having lived in various parts of the Chicago, I have noticed first hand that there is a large gap in access to coffee and other key amenities on the south side (e.g. food, dry cleaners). My solution to this gap is Southside Grinds Coffee Co., a trendy mobile espresso bar created to fill in infrastructure gaps and provide high quality caffeination across the south side of Chicago. I will go and MEET PEOPLE WHERE THEY ARE across Chicago, but especially on the south side (hence the name). My goal is to make coffee more approachable and accessible in forgotten communities. We will not only prepare the coffee fresh, but we will roast the coffee that we sell. When you support us, you support south side communities. Even if this opportunity goes to another deserving business, please buy a bag, book us for your next event or stop by our mobile cart (wherever we may be) for some amazing coffee and good vibes!

How they'll use their space

With your help, I will be able to host a launch event to introduce my mobile espresso bar (which is close to finalization) to the residents of the south side of Chicago. I hope to use non-profit organizations in this community and my network to get people there and rotate them in and out of the event during the day.

What is Space for Change?

Peerspace is on a mission to bring people together. We believe it is impossible to achieve that goal unless we also fight for equality and access to resources in the communities we serve.

Having a space to gather, create, and exchange ideas is an important part of any movement. In order to magnify voices that are often quieted, Peerspace will sponsor venues for people who challenge prejudice and fight for social justice and equality.

Each quarter, we will sponsor space for three projects that are relevant to our community. These projects can range from fundraisers and educational initiatives to art exhibits and photo series.
