Our nonprofit, Foundation of Freedom, was founded with a mission to economically empower the African diaspora through economic activism, creative campaigns, innovative educational platforms. I am the founding Board Co-Chair and Executive Director of the organization. We are in the early stages of building a brick and mortar, in NYC, that will house under-resourced Black owned businesses for free, and provide space for community organizing and engaging educational experiences.
If we win, we will use to capture to the stories of Black owned businesses and entrepreneurs in the NY area. We will be producing a series of videos that feature Black entrepreneurs and community members that will share their unique stories, highlighting the struggles that come with being a Black entrepreneur. In each episode of the series, we will discuss how beneficial building spaces that support entrepreneurs and community members, in such a bold way, would be in addressing the racial wealth gap and shifting the socioeconomic status of the Black community at large.
Peerspace is on a mission to bring people together. We believe it is impossible to achieve that goal unless we also fight for equality and access to resources in the communities we serve.
Having a space to gather, create, and exchange ideas is an important part of any movement. In order to magnify voices that are often quieted, Peerspace will sponsor venues for people who challenge prejudice and fight for social justice and equality.
Each quarter, we will sponsor space for three projects that are relevant to our community. These projects can range from fundraisers and educational initiatives to art exhibits and photo series.
