We are committed to celebrating the emerging artist and inspiring future that supports arts and culture. Performance, Visual, and other creative arts drive our culture and connect our communities. We want to continue to shine a light on emerging artists, while raising funds and awareness for non-profit organizations that serve our community. Our brand has been a resource and platform for emerging artists and since Covid-19 we’ve been working to find new ways to continue to support and celebrate the artists who look to us for inspiration and opportunities. Point of View is an event concept that we created in 2019, in collaboration with a coffee shop in the heart of Downtown Phoenix. It was essentially a string of open-mics and poetry contests that prompted performers and artists to share their perspective. It was our goal to amplify the voices of community members in a space that they were comfortable in. Our Point of View experience could use a revamp, considering our inability to produce live events.
Given that Covid-19 is still impacting our community, we will use the space as a filming location to produce the content for the virtual event. Moreover, we will be using the location to pre-record performances, content, and sections of the virtual event. Then we will stream it at a later date, once the footage has been edited and arranged to market the event. We will practice government recommended procedures and practices to keep the environment and team safe.
Peerspace is on a mission to bring people together. We believe it is impossible to achieve that goal unless we also fight for equality and access to resources in the communities we serve.
Having a space to gather, create, and exchange ideas is an important part of any movement. In order to magnify voices that are often quieted, Peerspace will sponsor venues for people who challenge prejudice and fight for social justice and equality.
Each quarter, we will sponsor space for three projects that are relevant to our community. These projects can range from fundraisers and educational initiatives to art exhibits and photo series.
