About this project

Their cause

I'm currently working on engaging BIPOC individuals in prioritizing your mental health as part of their overall wellness. In a time where addressing underlying issues hinged on generational and systemic trauma is paramount, our group practice's role is to call out inequity in health care and support individuals, families and organizations in their journey towards self-advocacy. Our goal is to normalize help seeking behaviors in communities of color and support in providing psycho-educational experiences affords a larger audience reach in promoting mental wellness and personal care.

How they'll use their space

Having a space would afford me the opportunity to invite BIPOC women ages 25-50 to a psycho-educational experience for the day. The topic would be on imposter syndrome, something that affects 70% of Americans in this country. Of particular note is that especially around the subject of gender equality and racial trauma, women of color are more susceptible to encountering toxic spaces that seek to demoralize minimize their accomplishments. This one day experience will incorporate self-care, professional mentoring by local business women and engagement on the topic of imposter syndrome and tools needed to challenge the norms.

What is Space for Change?

Peerspace is on a mission to bring people together. We believe it is impossible to achieve that goal unless we also fight for equality and access to resources in the communities we serve.

Having a space to gather, create, and exchange ideas is an important part of any movement. In order to magnify voices that are often quieted, Peerspace will sponsor venues for people who challenge prejudice and fight for social justice and equality.

Each quarter, we will sponsor space for three projects that are relevant to our community. These projects can range from fundraisers and educational initiatives to art exhibits and photo series.
