About this project

Their cause

I want to teach Independent Minority Filmmakers how to use Peer Space locations to create an entire Short Film. I am a Filmmaker passionate about Social Justice Issues. My last two short films have centered on social justice issues that matter deeply to me: Police Killings of Unarmed Black people and the disparity in our Social Economic Structure in America. I believe that Independent filmmakers should be supported and given the tools to create. I have created a filmmaking school catalog on my Youtube channel where I teach filmmaking classes for independent filmmakers on a budget. Many of the spaces I use to teach and shoot my films are Peer Space locations.

How they'll use their space

As an Independent filmmaker with limited funds I have used Peerspace to create and share my visions with the world. I want to create a Television Pilot that was inspired by a PeerSpace location and show the PeerSpace community and the world step by step how I used the properties. Independent FIlmmaker's particularly minority filmmakers need to be empowered to know that they don't need to wait on opportunities from Hollywood. WE can create our own stories and share our communities truths with the world utilizing companies like Peer space.

What is Space for Change?

Peerspace is on a mission to bring people together. We believe it is impossible to achieve that goal unless we also fight for equality and access to resources in the communities we serve.

Having a space to gather, create, and exchange ideas is an important part of any movement. In order to magnify voices that are often quieted, Peerspace will sponsor venues for people who challenge prejudice and fight for social justice and equality.

Each quarter, we will sponsor space for three projects that are relevant to our community. These projects can range from fundraisers and educational initiatives to art exhibits and photo series.
