About this project

Their cause

Our overall program is about developing youth creative skills, self-expression and confidence through music. Some of our students, in our AMPlified female performance group, are preparing a video podcast series where they will discuss important issues to themselves and their peers, using the platform to amplify the often marginalized youth voice, highlighting challenges, goals, triumphs, concerns, hopes and dreams as Baltimore City youth. They will do a limited series, discussing in a round-table format on topics important to them, paired with a musical performance of original work that connect to the topic of each episode. All the writing, music and editing will be done by students.

How they'll use their space

We will use the space as the setting to film their round-table discussions and "live recorded" performance pieces for the podcast. We'd ideally have a space where they can record all the podcast episodes and them performing their original works, all recorded within one day or over the course of a couple of days (flexible). Want a setting that reflects the energy of the podcast and provides a nice background and environment for them to converse and for the video and audio to be captured and recorded.

What is Space for Change?

Peerspace is on a mission to bring people together. We believe it is impossible to achieve that goal unless we also fight for equality and access to resources in the communities we serve.

Having a space to gather, create, and exchange ideas is an important part of any movement. In order to magnify voices that are often quieted, Peerspace will sponsor venues for people who challenge prejudice and fight for social justice and equality.

Each quarter, we will sponsor space for three projects that are relevant to our community. These projects can range from fundraisers and educational initiatives to art exhibits and photo series.
