Creatives on Campus is a sponsored program of The Better Give Back Foundation, Inc. The goal of the program is to galvanize awareness & mobilize resources in promotion of solving the housing & lifestyle insecurities faced in overwhelming majority by adult-learners, leaders & creatives of color. I am personally connected to this cause as a lifelong learner & former higher education administrator, and creative. In 2017, I started working on my EdD (educational doctorate) in educational leadership. My research examines the intersection between creativity & innovation within higher education, more specifically exploring cultural bias in post-secondary teaching & learning pedagogy. As a creative, it is important for higher education to adopt more creative & innovative approaches to connecting higher learning concepts to all student types. Creatives on Campus projects focus on building the appreciation for art-integration within higher education by valuing space, scholarship, and service among adult learners, leaders, and creatives.
Upon winning, this space will be used to host a fundraiser for a Creatives on Campus project initiative, Lost in the City with Creatives on Campus. Hosted on the weekend of our senior surprise summit, a scholarship & resource awards weekend hosted on behalf of graduating high school & post-secondary graduates, this inaugural gala will host donors, partners, and grantees of the program. With a goal to house and offer creative-wellness space to 110 leaders and adult-learners in the mid-atlantic region, this gala will serve as a premiere initiative to close the 2020-2021 academic year, and launch the 2021-2022 academic year.
Peerspace is on a mission to bring people together. We believe it is impossible to achieve that goal unless we also fight for equality and access to resources in the communities we serve.
Having a space to gather, create, and exchange ideas is an important part of any movement. In order to magnify voices that are often quieted, Peerspace will sponsor venues for people who challenge prejudice and fight for social justice and equality.
Each quarter, we will sponsor space for three projects that are relevant to our community. These projects can range from fundraisers and educational initiatives to art exhibits and photo series.
