About this project

Their cause

"Post Trap" is a online and Public art exhibition centered around the effects, both pre and post society on the Black being in the modern age. The exhibition which features over 150 unique works of art includes components in Virtual Reality, Fashion based art, painting, wall coverings, video art and public sculpture explores the effects of the nearby ghetto, of which Benedict lives in, upon his very being. It explores the triumph and control over the this blighted environment by the artist by means of the creation of multi faceted, intimate and spectacular art and atrifacts created during his 6 year residency in Newark. As performance art through a community member, working, living and growing in the city he flexes the intelect, compassion and expansivness of the Human Spirt. And by exploring the radical concepts of blighted property ownership, specifically of the delapidated spaces that infest the ghetto and how that connects through the individual/artist to the “fine art” and collections of high end wall coverings that hang in the walls of the affluent Benedict brings to light the value of the ghetto based individual and the "juxtaposition of hood and high".It is his vision and target to utilize this moment in time and the technology that comes with it to explore the breadth of not only Black sovereignty but Human sovereignty in mass on Earth using Newark, NJ as backdrop.

What is Space for Change?

Peerspace is on a mission to bring people together. We believe it is impossible to achieve that goal unless we also fight for equality and access to resources in the communities we serve.

Having a space to gather, create, and exchange ideas is an important part of any movement. In order to magnify voices that are often quieted, Peerspace will sponsor venues for people who challenge prejudice and fight for social justice and equality.

Each quarter, we will sponsor space for three projects that are relevant to our community. These projects can range from fundraisers and educational initiatives to art exhibits and photo series.
